CNE fire was right wing sabotage
A fire on March 7 destroyed
a National Electoral Council (CNE) building where voting machines and other equipment
were stored. Thousands of voting machines were damaged, according
to CNE rector Tibisay Lucena. There will be an official inquiry into the
causes of the fire, said Lucena.
Before that investigation
even begins, Vice-president Delcy Rodriguez knows what happened: “It was an act
of sabotage by the right”, declared
Rodriguez. She claims that “the right” is trying to prevent the parliamentary
elections due to be held this year. “They are afraid of elections because we
are going to beat them [dar una paliza].
Rain or shine, fire or sabotage, we are going to beat them in 2020,” she said.
