Official media is uncritically echoing the government’s
explanation of Venezuela’s current economic problems as an “economic war” waged
by the opposition and “The Empire”. Public media under the control of SIBCI (Sistema Bolivariano de Noticias) has
also begun to use the new governmental category to refer to the
opposition: “Parasite bourgeoisie,” instead of “the fascist right” as was common
before the beginning of the “economic war”.
This is how the Agencia
Venezolana de Noticias reports,
in its English section, President Maduro´s declarations yesterday:
Maduro calls people to
stand firm in the offensive against bourgeoisie
Caracas,
11 Nov. AVN.- Venezuela's President Nicolas Maduro called the Venezuelan people
to stand firm in the offensive against economic war waged by the bourgeoisie.
"#ZeroToleranceToSpeculation.
I'm calling the country to maintain the offensive against parasitic
bourgeoisie, in peace and order. We can do it firmly," wrote president on
his Twitter account.
The
revolutionary government has established a series of measures to fight the
economic war headed by the right sectors.
Inspection
of household stores to verify products are sold at fair prices is one the
actions that seek to protect the purchasing power of the people.
President
Maduro announced Sunday that this week authorities will carry out inspections
in the areas of food, textiles, footwear, hardware, appliances, toys and
vehicles, to avoid usury that some traders have committed against the people.
Inspections
will be headed by officials of the Presidency, Superior Organ for the People's
Defense of Economy, Bolivarian National Armed Force, integral development
regions, insular defense operation zones, the Institute for the Defense of
People's Access to Goods and Services (Indepabis) and the National Superintendence
of Costs and Prices (Sundecop).
"I
am aware of everything. Abuses of parasites and usurers have to end in peace
and with the law," he said.
He
also said that national militia will join this work, as well as people's power
"to ensure order and cover the whole country."
Maduro
thanked the support and collaboration of the people in this offensive.
